TIME Magazine To Create TIME Square In The Metaverse
TIME Magazine has joined the metaverse frenzy with the latest partnership. According to reports, the company has partnered with The Sandbox, a popular digital platform.
The company wants to build a digital Times Square in the virtual world. Last year, the company had ventured into the NFT and crypto world. However, its eyes are now on the metaverse.
Creating A Digital Times Square
As stated by the company, the Times Square community living in New York inspired the project. The community is very keen and has a great interest in the metaverse.
Besides, Times Square is among the most prestigious cultural centers in the world. Also, it boasts of commercial intersections and increased tourist visits.
Also, the location is popular for its wide, illuminated advertisement boards. Furthermore, many consider it the heart and center of New York. It has also been referred to as the “Crossroads of the World.”
The company plans to recreate a digital version of the physical Times Square. With the recent partnership, the media firm can achieve its goal.
Before now, the company had purchased a digital land in the digital platform, The Sandbox. Hence, the company can build its digital Times Square there. This would imprint the company’s name in the metaverse.
The Media Company To Become The Heart Of The Digital World
Last September, the media firm launched an NFT project, TIMEpieces. The project featured the artwork of over fourth influential artists.
Presently, the community has just five NFT collections. They include Beatclub, Slices of TIME, Long Neckie Women of the Year, Genesis, and Inspiration.
Keith A. Grossman, President of TIME Magazine, noted that the company wants to create a digital environment. He believes this environment would grow to be the heart of the digital world.
“Our aim is to build a place that will become the center of the metaverse. After we launched TIMEpieces in 2021, we have shifted out attention to Web3. We plan to develop a platform in the digital world that would benefit from our 100-year legacy,” he added.
Furthermore, TIME square plans to become a unique platform for holders of TIMEPieces. TIME Studios would host several events for educational Sandbox recreational purposes.
Users would be allowed to enjoy these activities and attend events and meetings. Grossman stated that the company would serve as a bridge between physical and virtual activities.
It would help connect historical coverage, the firm’s virtual community, and global relationships. The Sandbox’s co-founder, Sebastien Borget, while speaking on the collaboration, stated that;
“By collaborating with TIME, the company is adding TIMEpieces as the metaverse’s heart beat. It would become a place for virtual architects.”
